Located Northwest of Milwaukee in “Lake Country,” Waukesha is often ranked one of the best cities in Wisconsin. With so many things to do in Lake Country, dining out at upscale restaurants is at the top of the list. Book a reservation at some of the six best Waukesha restaurants. 

Tofte’s Table (Waukesha)

Owned by husband and wife team, Jason and Cristina Tofte, Tofte's Table is one of Waukesha's most popular fine dining restaurants, with a modern yet cozy ambiance. Established in 2016, Tofte's Table was built on the foundations of an intimate upscale dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. Tofte's Table is located in Downtown Waukesha, where guests have the option to eat in the spacious dining room or the outdoor patio area. From its drinks to its dinner specials, Tofte's Table takes local fare and puts a contemporary spin on it. Tofte's Table regularly serves locally crafted beer and spirits, while also offering international wine selections. 
 
What truly makes this place special is the menu. Tofte's Table combines homestyle favorites with an artisanal presentation, for a truly elegant meal. Tofte's also offers vegetarian options. For a memorable dining experience, book a reservation for the Chef's Selection, a seven-course dinner curated by the Chef. The Chef's Selection requires a group of five or more, so grab your friends. Reservations of all party sizes are highly recommended since tables fill fast. Tables are often booked out up to two weeks in advance. Whether you're here for date night or with a large group, there is something for everyone at Tofte's Table.  

People’s Park (Waukesha)

Live music? Art displays? A hip, rooftop bar with panoramic city views? What's not to love about People's Park in Downtown Waukesha? This eclectic restaurant is set in a historic, civil-war-era building that has been converted into a modern, loft-style space people love. Each of the three levels offers something truly unique for diners. Art lovers will appreciate the first floor, for its extensive collection of unique pieces, from European art to vintage doll collections. There is no shortage of conversation pieces on the lower level. For an intimate night out, the second level has a more traditional layout and is great for date night or with large groups. There are still art collections on the wall, tying the space together. For those who like to party, the third level has a rooftop bar with patio seating and a Live DJ. 
 
People's Park has an extensive dinner menu, with Friday Night Fish Fry specials and other classic offerings. It also has excellent cocktails and one of the best brunches around. If you want to go out on a Friday night, it is highly recommended you get a reservation, since it's the busiest night of the week, with live music and their popular fish fry.

Located in the beautiful Genesee Depot, Union House is worth the 10-minute road trip from Waukesha. Operating as a fine dining establishment since 1861, the historic Union House sets the standard for decadence in Lake Country. Union House has a near-endless selection of wines, with a blend of domestic and international offerings, including their in-house wines. For the cocktail connoisseur, Union House has an array of spirits, including bourbons and ryes, scotches, vodkas, tequilas, and rums. Where Union House truly shines is its impressive menu selection, including the finest cuts of steak, duck, striped bass, wild game features, and wild-caught seafood features. 
 
Guests can book dinner reservations for groups of all sizes. For groups under 50 people, guests can book the VIP Room, for a truly intimate gathering. Union House can be booked for private events, such as birthday parties, work events, weddings, and more. 

Silvernail Inn (Pewaukee)


For diners who love Wisconsin supper clubs, the Silvernail Inn hits every note, from the vintage decor to the classic dinner menu. Located in nearby Pewaukee, the Silvernail Inn offers a nostalgic dining experience at an affordable price. The Silvernail Inn is open every Wednesday through Sunday, with classic nightly dishes, such as meatloaf, shepherd's pie, Swedish meatballs, homemade soups, and other comfort foods. Among their most popular specials is their prime rib, which is offered on Friday and Saturday nights. 
 
For those who wish to order the prime rib, reservations are highly recommended, since they do sell out frequently. It is recommended that you call with 24-hour notice since the Silvernail Inn cooks its prime rib overnight. Reservations are especially recommended for large groups of five or more people. 

Meiji Cuisine (Waukesha)

Craving something different from the typical American fare? Meiji Cuisine is a premier Asian restaurant with some of the best sushi in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Local sushi chef Cai opened Meiji Cuisine in 2000, creating an authentic, one-of-a-kind dining experience in the Waukesha area. All of the ingredients Meiji Cuisine uses are 100% fresh every day, made with the highest quality sushi on the market. Meiji Cuisine has all of the sushi classics, including maki, sashimi, nigiri, hand rolls, and specialty rolls. For those who prefer to try something other than their famous sushi, Meiji Cuisine has an excellent Hibachi Grill and Chinese food. 
 
Reservations are highly recommended on the weekends, especially for larger groups and those who are interested in the Hibachi Grill. Meiji Cuisine also provides catering and hosts private events for up to 25 guests. 

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar (Brookfield)


Unlike other entries on this list, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is technically a chain restaurant, but it deserves a place on this list for everything it has to offer. Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar was established in 1998 by Bill Allen and  Paul Fleming, with the first restaurant opening in Newport Beach, California. As its popularity grew, a location opened in Brookfield. Since then, it has been one of the area’s premier steakhouses, offering some of the best Prime cuts found anywhere. 
 
Guests at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar receive an elevated dining experience, from the excellent wine and cocktail selections to the exquisite steak, seafood, and vegetarian dishes.
